POLICIES. RULES. REGULATIONS.

REFUND POLICY
The Skate Canada fee cannot be refunded.  Refunds will be prorated depending on how much of the school is left.  There are no refunds for the enrichment program. See each specific registration form for more details.

MEDIA POLICY

The SSC may take photographs or videos of members/athletes.  The intent is to promote club activities and events. The athlete or parent/guardian (if skater is under the age of 18) acknowledges and consent that any photograph, video, athlete name, and biography may be published on our website, social media sites, newspapers, television, radio program, video/DVD, advertising or any club related document, for any lawful purpose, waiving all rights to renumeration.

GUEST SKATING POLICY
All skaters may only skate on the days they are registered for. If you choose to come on a day for which you are not regularly scheduled, you must pay a guest skating fee of $15/hr for SSC members and $20/hr for non-members. This must be paid on the day of guest skating. Spring and Summer school skating rates are higher, please check the brochures.

SCENT FREE POLICY
The Sudbury Skating Club has adopted a “Scent-Free” policy and request that skaters and guests refrain from wearing perfumes, cologne (or other strong smelling scents) and avoid the use of aerosols in the arena facility.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The professionals on the ice, session heads and board members will enforce the following rules:
ON ICE:
  •  Proper skating attire is required.
  • Only persons wearing skates are allowed on the ice.
  • Hats that impair skater’s vision are not acceptable.
  • CSA approved helmets are mandatory for beginner skaters up to stage 5 - at the discretion of the coaches.
  • Foul language is not acceptable, nor is permitted under any circumstances.
  • No food, gum, or loose change may be taken on the ice.
  • Spins should be done in the middle of the ice and jumps in the ends.
  • The skater whose music is playing has the right of way.
  • Skaters are expected to be skating at all times while on the ice and to get up immediately after a fall in order to keep pathways clear for other skaters.
  • Ice surface is to be used for practice and not for conversation.
OFF ICE:
  • Skate guards must be worn in all off-ice areas.
  • Defacing of club/arena property is prohibited and may result in loss of skating privileges.
  • Please help keep the office, dressing rooms and washrooms clean.
  • Only designated music operators and professional coaches are permitted to use the music equipment.
  • Dressing rooms are primarily intended to be used for changing into and out of skates. The dressing room is not intended to be a washroom or a “full clothing” change room. Generally males and females share our dressing rooms.
  • Unacceptable behaviour, including horseplay, rough housing, and abuse of other people’s property will not be tolerated. Parents (if concerned) are invited to visit the dressing room to encourage appropriate behaviour.
  • Skater’s registration fees and lessons must be paid in full before trying tests.
  • No refunds for missed sessions.
  • All complaints should be submitted in writing to your session head, who then submit said complaint to the Board of Directors.
SAFETY:
  • While the zamboni is resurfacing the ice, the skaters are to stay off the ice until the machine has completely left the ice surface.  During ice resurfacing skaters are to keep clear of all ice level door openings.  All skaters must leave the ice promptly at the end of their session.
  • Please report any damaged property and/or equipment to the club or arena office.
  • CSA approved helmets are mandatory for beginner skaters up to stage 5, at the discretion of the coaches.
 LESSONS:
  • Be on time for sessions and lessons.  A calendar with your ice times is provided. You will be notified of changes.
  • Private lessons are arranged directly between the skater (and/or parent) and the coach.
  • Only coaches engaged under contract with the Sudbury Skating Club or with specific permission may give lessons at the club.
Any infraction of these rules may result in the skater being asked to leave the ice.
